Bonnet release broke, and a thank you to all.

To All

Thank you for all of the info you guys/gals take the time to post to this forum.

I have two Minis, a 2009S and a 2013 JCW, and earlier this week the bonnet release mechanism broke on the 2009S.
A night or so of reading, $10.00 in Harbor Freight interior panel tools, some chassis/wheel bearing grease, and i'm back in business. You folks saved me a couple hundred bucks.
It's temporarily fixed, so I'll be ordering some parts from ECS on Monday to complete the repair. (The plastic cable end in the driver footwell is worn and not staying clipped into the release mechanism frame.)

Again, thank you.

I wish your post could be planted on the home page in flashing neon. I don't know how many people come in asking questions without looking resulting in unnecessary, additional threads that have already been answered. When searching the forum is suggested they get all pi$$y about it and someone else chimes in and claims 'Search' is worthless.
No, silkcut, thank you!!

Thank you for the exploded view. Looks like I need to order the rear Bowden cable, and release mechanism.

There's a buttload of info captured on this forum, and it's all free.
When my hard drive crapped out on me a few months back, it was the bookmarks of links I had to this forum, sorted by subject, that really torqued me off.
I'll rebuild my bookmark library soon.
