Squeaky rattles!!

Hey guys.

I just bought a 2009 MCS and the car is great EXCEPT there's an annoying squeaky rattle noise coming from the hatch are.
I don't think it's suspension but it's driving me nuts!!

Just curious, is there something in the rear of the car that is prone to squeaking? Is there something in particular that I should look at?

Thanks

One possibility is the latch mechanism, which can be adjusted. On mine I wrapped a piece of racer tape (duct tape) around the metal latch on the lid itself. Problem solved. If this doesn't do it, there are other possibilities at the rear of the car relating to bushings and shocks.

Same thing for me as well with mine. It's crazy annoying but some tape squares it away pretty quickly.

sorry to revive a thread from last year... but my 2012 R56 has squeaks coming from... what appears to be the rear passenger side speaker housing (I think)... any idea on what to do? It's driving me nuts

My suggestion would be, have a friend drive the car around the block while you sit in the back seats to determine where the rattle is coming from. After you know the root cause it will be easier to determine the best solution.

Okay, I'll try that... For what it's worth, I just noticed today, when the back seats are folded down, there's zero squeaks

Great! So the latch mechanism that holds the seat backs is a bit loose. Try wrapping some electrical tape around the metal loops that the seat backs attach too. The tape will tighten up the connection and will also insulate the sound a bit.
