Tire Pressure Sensor / How Long Does It Last Before Needing To Be Replaced?
The Tire Pressure Sensor in the 2010 and newer R56, is it battery powered?
In general, how many years service can I expect before they need to be replaced?
I have the MINI CPO XXL Warranty, if they fail would they be covered under that warranty?
I ask all of this because I am about to replace the tires on my wife's MINI. It is a 2013, BUT when we purchased it, we had the dealer swap out the wheels/tires with her 2011 we were trading in because we liked the wheels on her 2011 better and we had Pilot Super Sport tires. SO, her car is now a 2013, but her wheel speed sensors are from a 2011.....
I searched and found that the non replaceable batteries can last up to 10-12 years.
I think I also read this while waiting at Americas Tire for new tires.
A buddy of mine who owns a TPMS store says in general most are seeing about 5 years life before needing to be replaced. Some shorter, some longer. Hope that helps.
Yea, warranty only covers original TPMS sensors. Have to check with CPO at your dealer on the coverage. They can last a while, still on mine and 5 + years. Just remember on the new parts there is a 9/2009 year split on the part #.

Are the post-9/2009 sensors backwards compatible with pre-9/2009 cars?
