R56 How to know if timing components has been replaced?
The tensioner is phyisically longer (on the new one), its 82mm here is the link to the new tensioner.

The old one is 78mm, you can see that on the comments here

I am wondering about the rest myself, how to tell if the chain or guides have been replaced (or if they need replacing).

+1 also you can feel around the back , when the TSB was done . A quick way to tell is fell the tensioner head , in 2013 they were switched out the indented head. Then the newest tensioner came out again with a flat surface bolt head, so it mixed things up again. You can contact your local MINI dealership with the Vin and they can tell you if it was replaced there. Otherwise you would have to pull the tensioner and look on the side of it for the part number and then match it up. For the chain and guides it will be harder. As the chain has changed part number but its almost hard to find any markings , the guide have stayed the same. Only way to tell is how dark they are compared to new nylon color, but thats even not a good way.
11314609482 is the older tensoiner and most online sites show that is the updated part ( which is wrong ), its the older ones, that why we don't include it in the full kit as it was a single replacement or fix for a stretched chain within a stretch tolerance .
11317607551 newest part on the full timing chain kit. Latest part is 11317607551 5th gen
