My 08 mini s is making a noise. I think it is the chewbacca noise I have read about. It was doing it just every now and then but it's getting worse. I am going to take it by my mechanic tomorrow to see what he thinks it is but my research has lead me to believe it is the dual mass flywheel. I was wondering what are opinions on replacing with a single mass flywheel. And if so which one should I get? Thanks.

 

When my DM flywheel failed, there weren't any noises. Only indication was a shudder in the clutch pedal every time I moved the pedal. The springs in my flywheel broke and didn't show symptoms for a thousand miles or so, and happened during grandma style driving.
