Cold start noise

I Know a lot of r56 minis do it, but why does it sound like a desil when i cold start it?

Not your exact issue, but an issue with how his MINI sounds like a diesel here in this NAM thread here. I linked to a good post that lists some good info. Another here with a link to the cold start thread where people describe a diesel like sound and motoring file has some good info about the cold start noises here.
