dash panels

Okay, I'm talking about the plastic piece behind the tach and the "secret" door cover:

Mine are currently silver and the door cover is scratched (by previous owner). I watched several youtube videos on how to remove them, but need some advice on how to restore them. I'd rather not paint them as I am constantly using the secret compartment I also do not want to spend hundreds on carbon fiber replacements. Has anyone tried vinyl wrap? Are they available to purchase in different colors (ie. dark grey or black)? Are they molded in color? Is there a durable paint out there that will last on plastic?

What has everyone else done?

Hi,

I have good experience with those parts.

1) with Plasti Dip. Parts were removed then re installed when ready in just 1 hour.

2) Finally it were painted matching the body car color with "real" paint. Painted at a paint shop. Looks great, no problems with it.

I would look into hydro dipping them. I bought the DIY kit and after about 3 test runs I can do it pretty good. They have all kind of patterns and solid colors.
I did my M7 scoop in skulls and it turned out nicely.
I have some carbon parts I did but don't have the pics
It is very durable, I have done a few gun stocks and it hold up great

OH , if you don't want to take the project on yourself there are plenty of custom shops that do this these days.
Youtube - "hydro dipping" and watch how easy it is.

Well, today I decided to "buff" it out by sanding it down with 1500 grit, I assumed it was molded in color (silver) -it is not. Now it needs to be painted or vinyl wrapped.
