I love these cars, the amount of power and torque these little monster engines produces is fascinating. I recently let mine go and jumped into a MINI and obviously there's a BIG difference between the cars. Now the reason I didn't jump into an MCS was all the troubles I've run into in the past with all my turbo cars, so I figured I would try N/A for a change for reliability purposes. So here I am now just looking to put a little meat on my JUSTA bones lol

Sorry to be harsh, but:

WRONG!

The only work your car needs to be "autocross ready" is to get all of the stuff out of the interior. Anything not securely fastened down or safely inside a closed compartment needs to come out.

The battery also needs to be secured. The brakes need to not be soft. The wheels need to be torqued. The throttle needs to return when you let off the pedal. There needs to be no large leaks.

Basically, the car needs to be in decent working condition with the extra stuff inside removed, and that's it! No special tires needed, no special suspension, no special seats or seat belts, no roll cages, no NOTHING. Just a car in good working condition, an approved helmet, closed-toed shoes, and a willingness to learn and have fun.

Comments like yours rub me the wrong way--because they give people the impression that you have to have a super-modified car to go have fun. But you don't! As long as the car is in decent driving shape, go and flog it!

I apologize If what I said set you off was not my intent at all.... I'm just used to all of my other cars and having them modified to certain levels to compete and I thought it would be the same for the MINI, Again I'm not on here to upset anyone and I apologize if my comment came across wrong, I'm on here to make friends and get help in fixing my MINI when needed and like now I'm getting some great responses from everyone on the mods I should make.

If you want to play with other people in stock class. Some of us don't. I agree that there is the stigman that you must modify your car to "race" it. In autoX that isn't the case. That being said, perhaps a deep breath before a post would do some good.

If you're just there to learn and have fun, classes don't matter. And it seems the mods people make before they even think about autoXing their car bump them out of stock class anyway.

Of course, you can mod your car before taking it to the cones. But there is no requirement--our cars are more than capable enough to plaster a huge grin on our faces before any changes are made. So just take it out and have fun with it--mod it when you can and when you want, but you can flog it around while you're waiting for parts or making up your mid about what you want.

Lol, I think I've been in 3 different classes between my modding. Parts of the fun for ME anyway is modding for a particular class. Or removing mods to meet a class requirement too. Its almost like high school / college wrestling where I have to "cut weight" to meet the right weight class. It's busy work really, but I like having fun with it

If my MCS ever failed me I would absolutely buy a Justa Cooper, rated above average for reliability in many different mags.

So far so good cant complain I love my JUSTA so far, now onto the mods... I have located another miniac and they have a catback custom JCW and will deliver it to me on the 31st at the MINI car meet so exhaust is scratched off the list, still searching for an upgraded intake or would making my own be ok? next on the suspension upgrades im in talks with someone about front and rear sway bars and an S hood, so far im doing really well in trying to stay within my budget

Not sure of your car, but I've had a 09 Justa and 08 MCS, and the exhaust was different. The justa had a spare tire, the MCS does not. The MCS exhaust was straight back under the center of the bumper.

not sure if your car is different than mine was.

Have fun,
Mike

Don't bother with the front swaybar. Not worth the work IMO. That front subframe is a b*tc4 to work around. With an upgraded rear, the car rotates very nicely I have the 22mm bar (small one) on the front and am very happy with it. I did upgrade the bushings to powerflex.... that how I know how much the front subframe sucks...

I'd go with the K&N intake for your Justa, thats just my opinion. I think it looks great under the hood.

Hi, Yes the Justa is different from the MCS, the MCS does go straight back as the Justa curves to the side, Now this guy has had a custom JCW exhaust made to were it bends to the side to fit on the JUSTA coopers perfectly. That's what im debating about is the K&N as it does look nice under the hood but the price tag is crazy lol.
