Interior cabin diode related problem - 2013 MCS
Is anyone else with a 2013 MCS (or I reckon all models with N18 engines) still having problems with the normal interior cabin fan cutting out completely except high speed (max fan) - i.e. dead resistor or diode? I understand this is not a unique problem as it has occurred on earlier model years as well. In fact with the engine turned off but key still in, the high speed fan stops running altogether (but works fine when the engine is running). We had a resistor replaced under warranty in Oct 2014 and it must have died again. What in the hey-Billy-Bob is going on? Is there a permanent solution and if so, what is it? Usually, as most things, in electronics the weakest link in the energy chain is the part that fails. In this case it's clearly the resistor, meaning either the resistors are just simply garbage or something further up the chain is leading to the failure. I'm heading to the dealership to take care of it under warranty again but I'd prefer to be more informed about the issue. Has anyone had this problem and able to diagnose the cause? Thanks in advance!
