I have a question that has been probably asked a million times. I want to change the transmission fluid and I wanted the know what I needed. I guess the new fluid the gasket and the filter. What type of fluid is the best for a 2008 Mini Cooper Justa Automatic.

There are a few threads on this, either in this section or the Modifications: How To section.


The transmission is made by Aisin, and is also used by VW.


The fluid is special, use MINI fluid or Toyota or a synthetic (like Redline D4). The threads have the proper spec, they escape me right now. The gasket is reusable, and the filter can be purchased from the dealer or online retailers. Reading the threads, it seems that some change the filter (I did) and others just change some of the fluid.


this is not a simple task, refill and confirming the proper fill level is a bit involved.

Hi!

My mechanic is going to do it but I want to provide him all the parts. I heard about recline products too. I didn't know the gasket was reusable.

My automatic transmission works well but the third to second shifting is always really hard especially at low rpm in a turn. I have 78000miles now so I guess it's a good service to do.

Ill change the filter too. Just want to make sure it's the same fluid for a Justa and a cooper S.
