Mini Cooper - Non-S model disc brake sizes

Hi everyone,

My wife's mini cooper base has the brake wear indicator light come up recently so it's time to replace her brake pads and rotors.

I'm looking at rockauto.com and found they have a bunch of high end rotors on sale but they are for cooper S and some are for JCW's.

Can someone tell me what the exact diameters of the base mini cooper's are, and whether they are a different size to Cooper S and JCW's?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

They are a different size. I had ordered front rotors and brakes for my S and ended up getting the base versions which didn't fit.

I'll need to sell them now.

So after a few phone calls from local parts stores and the mini dealership, I found out that the front rotors are non-S coopers are 280mm, and the cooper S is 294mm. Hope this helps others in the future. There is also a size of 300+ mm so I believe those would be reserved for the JCW's, correct me if I'm wrong.

Does anyone know if the rears for all 3 versions are the same?

That sounds right from what I remember. Not sure about the rears.

Watch those other part sites, most of the time they are wrong or have models and years overlapping.

Gen 2 MINI

2007 R56 MINI Cooper ( NON S ) for example.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2007-Cooper-R56-Base-Coupe-L4_1.6L_N12B16A/Braking/

Front rotors are 280mmx22mm for the stock rotors, if you have the JCW Sport brakes retrofit kit with the 4 pistion bemebo calipers, then you have the 316mmx22mm

For the rear 259x10 stock , JCW brake upgrade kit 280x10.

If you have stock , you will have to stick with stock.

One brake pad sensor in the front left and one brake pad sensor in the rear right.

Get 4 new rotor screw, old ones can stick. Anti- seize them and gtg.

Thanks

In case anyone has a 280mm disc Cooper and wants better brakes, it is an easy swap to the 294mm Cooper S brakes.

The calliper is the same for both, so all it needs is new discs, pads and calliper mounting brackets and the hydraulics don't even get touched. The change takes the same time as fitting new rotors, as the calliper brackets need to come off to do that.
