R56 +12Vdc Backup Light Power Needed
+12Vdc Backup Light Power Needed
Is there an easy way to access +12Vdc power from the backup lights for me to use for my new backup camera upgrade?
I prefer not to deal with removing the chrome trim ring around the rear light assembly for fear of breaking it.
The vehicle is a 2009 convertible, S Model.
So far I have the camera nicely mounted under the boot handle next to the license plate light.
I was hoping to find a way to get to the wiring near the drivers side rear light but I do not see an easy way to expose it.

That is what I want to do. The problem is I cannot figure out how to get to it without the obvious way tha involves the removal of the rear tail light assembly. That trim ring lloks like it will break easily on me. I would like to know how to gain access to the rear of the lamp assembly to be able to tap in. The manual was real sketchy.
The connector is not easy to access in a convertible. Removing the tail light (via the trim ring) is the simplest way. See these instructions in post #3 here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post2534400.
