R56 ?'s on repairing radiator after accident
?'s on repairing radiator after accident
My wife slid into a guy in a recent snow storm and, although she was going well under 20mph when she started the slide, she managed to put a dent into the bumper, hood, and the AC condenser. She noticed her heat wasn't working and I noticed a slow coolant leak even though my initial look at the radiator didn't show any damage. When I took off the passenger side clip that holds the condenser to the radiator, I noticed a leak coming from a hairline crack around the base of the post that the clip screws into.
My hope is that there would be someway to repair the polymer side there at the post to that I don't have to replace the entire radiator due to a #%$$@% design and some &*^%#*& plastic.
Pic of damage attached, the post I mention is in the middle of the picture with the Torx screw still screwed into it.
Thanks in advance!

The more expensive proposition is the condesor. That one will run you 2x the radiator:

Lastly, make sure the entire front radiator support assembly is not bent, else the new pieces will never fit properly. If you are in for radiator support and bumper replacement, you might as well put in an insurance claim.

There are putty-like products that you can buy. They work for a little while, but tend to fail pretty quickly. BTDT, on a different car with plastic radiator tanks.
Just replace it. You'll have to tear stuff in that area apart to replace the condensor anyway; might as well replace the radiator while you're at it because anything you do to repair it will fail. Either right away, or after a few months, but it will fail.

Thanks all, I am going to get it checked out by a shop in case I missed something and, if the price isn't awful, I will have them do both. If it is, I will do both myself, it's just too damned cold and icy right now in Maryland lol.
