Auto Trans woes need help testing sensors

I'm at the point where I need to see if one or more of the sensors are failing causing my transmission problems. I've got the car torn apart so I want do this now while I have room to work. I already changed fluid and filter/screen. Which by the way my car didn't have any magnets in pan or the plastic overflow pipe. Why? What's up with that? I bought this car new and pan never off until now. B.S! Anyway, I want to check the sensors just to be sure. Specifically I want to ckeck the wire harness/atf temp sensor, the range sensor on top of tranny, and the vehicle speed sensor which might be the same as the abs wheel speed sensor. Can I use a multimeter to test resistance and voltage at each sensor? If so, how? These sensors have multiple pins so where do I put the probes? Furthermore I have no check engine light so there are no obd codes to check. I think the CEL light should be on if one or more of those sensors is bad, right? It's possible that it might have (without triggering CEL) registered some mini specific codes in DME and transmission control unit EGS? Also is there any way to see if the rotational speed sensors input and output are functioning properly without accessing them by removing the valve body? Maybe there is a way to test using bavtechnic tool? Or again, if these sensors or any other parts in transmission (like valve body) are indeed failing, then there should be specific codes registered in DME or transmission control unit EGR, right?
