New Tire Opinions

Hello All, I have a 2013 Justa and I wanted to upgrade the tires. I only have about 12K on the OEM tires (Hankook Ventus Prime 2) but I was looking at some new Michelins since Costco is running their promotion. They have the Pilot Sport A/S 3 and the Premier AS in the 195/55/16 87V size.

I know the Pilots are going to be on the sporty side; we installed the Premier AS on our Cube, and it is a really nice tire. I just don't know if it will be too soft for the Mini. I use my car only for spirited daily driving, but I don't want to lose the tossable nature of the car. I wouldn't mind something quieter though, which puts me i a tough spot.

Should I go with the Pilots, which will probably be the most fun, but also a little louder, rougher, and faster wearing. Or should I go with the Premiers which will be quieter, smoother, but a little less fun.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 is a great all-season tire, if you need all seasons:

I would definitely get them over Premiers:

By the way, you may want to price-shop between Costco vs. TireRack. I know how it will come out, and you can ship tires to one of the local TireRack approved installers in your zip code who will installer them for cheaper than Costco as well:

Good luck,

Voting on Costco for Mich AS3… or Premier. Depends on what's more important to you - value & longevity or daily spirited driving.

Costco is easier to talk to… c/s is second to none.

Tire Rack approved tire shops are good but depends in your area. If there's a problem, it's harder to resolve it because Tire Rack is online order tire reseller.

I've ordered several sets from T/R in the past years and never had a problem until I experienced the extra convenience in going to Costco.

Good luck with your decision, I am sure it will be a sound one regardless.
