License plate light trim question

Hi all,

While replacing the license plate light bulb, part of the black plastic trim that secures the clear lens broke off. Not sure if the plastic was brittle or if this is at all common. Didn't take much effort at all.

I see that the chrome replacement strip is available here >>> http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2010-C...Hatch/ES77817/ <<< but the chrome strip on my car is perfect. I only need the black plastic part. Do you folks know if that's available from MINI?

Brandon

I broke one of the tabs from the clear lens when I replaced the bulbs. I just put a piece of electrical tape on it to hold it in place.

I don't have any idea if the MINI dealer can get your part. Ask ECS, they can normally get anything the dealer can.

The black portion of the latch only comes with the cover, item 5. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...70&hg=41&fg=60

I broke mine too trying to change it to led. I guess they are poorly designed, easily breaks off. Anyways, I just put some crazy glue and put the broken plastic back on and left it to dry overnight without the lens cover. Put the lens cover back the next morning and so far they are holding fine with no issue

OK. I'll probably just do the same. What a silly design, both in terms of the weak plastic that causes the break in the first place, and also the inability to replace only that plastic section. Seems easy enough to make the trim and plastic portions separate.
