Check engine light after changing starter
2008 Mini cooper s hardtop/hatchback. Ok. Finally got the starter and installed it. Simple enough. My problems came trying to get the air intake and all associated wires plugged back in. Fought it for a long time. I think I got everything.
BUT, when I put it back on the ground and tried to start it, it just cranked w/o starting. An occasional fire/sputter. Then finally after trying several times over a few minutes, it fired right up and has started every time I tried. On a side note, a week and a half ago I did the rear brakes and it didn't want to start then either (when the starter would engage...as I said, I just did the starter). Maybe it just doesn't like sitting for a week???
Once it did start, I noticed the check engine light on. I am assuming that I missed a cable or hose or something. I will stop by the parts store on Wednesday and connect a scanner to see what code it throws. Another side note, where is the connector at? Under the dash I am guessing? Any help would be appreciated. I am exhausted after a long day of work, commute, and fighting that intake for hours.
