First - I searched but didn't see anything. Sorry.

My son has a 2009 MC hardtop base model with a 6 spd transmission and 105,000 miles.

While driving, the car stopped accelerating while in gear. I assumed the cutch was out; however, there was no smell that usually comes with a slipping clutch.

Car has since been towed to his house. He can start the car, push the clutch to the floor, select a gear, let out the clutch, and the car continues to idle as if in neutral. If he doesn't use the clutch, he can't shift into any gear.

There still isn't any smell of burning clutch material.

Any ideas?

 

The clutch is gone, or the transmission is, or a drive-axle has failed. Inspect the drive axles, especially the CV joints. If that's not it, get ready to pull the trans.

 

That what I was thinking, If you were shifting in between gear and the one of the shifter cables popped off on top of the transmission housing, that would cause the same issue, but sounds like you were in gear.
