Check rock auto they sell a stubby for pretty cheap.
I have the wmw, it's aluminum, I'm guessing the cheap ones are plastic.

Craven speed 4" stubby. Make sure you ask and get the correct adaptor for your application.

Reception quality not changed as far as I can tell in both am and fm. Looks great also.

Go to your local hardware store and get a brass bolt that fits your antenna and carefully cut it to length. Should be fine.

I've got one for sale on here. I don't know exactly how the mounts changed, but it might be worth a try.

Don't know why everyone is stressing over "you get what you pay for" it's an antenna... Not like it takes abuse, or any wear for that matter.

Cheap? How about free? Heat the top of your stock antenna and pull the end off. Cut the antenna to the length you want, rtv the end back on. Reception might suffer but then again it might not be noticeable in your area.

I have this 1.5 inch on my 2012 MCS . Reception seems decent but I seldom use the radio so don't hold me to it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5-Black-Short-Stubby-Aerial-Antenna-Mast-fit-most-Mini-/231143546798?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d13a9fae

got a 70 cent screw from the hardware store. so total cost $8 for a carbon antenna. didn't really want carbon but it was the cheapest one on ebay lol. still looks better than the stock.

not gonna spend $25 for a antenna. not sure what I would have done without your post.

The antenna actually improves FM as well.

You won't get any AM signal without it and it will improve your FM for sure.
Just for everyone's information.
I can tell you don't care but figured I'd share my many years of experience working at a car stereo shop.
