Car is jerking

I have a 2009 Cooper Automatic with 60,000+ miles. She is jerking on the road when I try to accelerate around 70mph or going up a hill or sometimes from a stop. Anyone else have this type of problem and what did you do to fix it?

Sounds like the tranny isn't shifting at the correct time, clearly an engagement problem. Check your tranny fluid. Are you getting any codes? If not it's mechanical issue. Another reason I'll never have an automatic tranny.

check your tranny fluid, that's funny , like without a dipstick that's a challenge, and you can bet if MINI made it you would be able to read it anyway

A compression test lead to my trouble. When I think back mine did the same at a stop and if I pressed the gas harder going up a hill it would also jerk just once. No lights or indication of what was about to happen on my R56 Cooper. Hope it is a minor fix for you.

How about a little more info. Are you trying to accelerate hard and it stumbles, does it bog down when you apply a little throttle, does it not downshift when you stomp on it?

How about if you manually downshift, does it behave the same?

Is the problem consistent, or does it only happen once in a while?

It is a base cooper, right? Not an S?

Mike
