The control that directs air to the windshield, footwell, or dashboard vents is not functioning on my 2010 MCS with automatic climate control. The display changes as expected but no matter what the setting the air always comes out the dashboard vents only.

Does anyone know what's likely to be causing this?

 

Update: I play with the control every day, trying to get the air to come out in different places. For several days in a row it would only come out of the dash vents. 4 days ago it started coming out the footwell vents exclusively. The next day, and every day since, it works like new: I can select any combination of the 3 - dash, foot, windshield.

Problem solved. I wish I knew how.

 

It is the micro switches for the gear unit. If I recall they come with the ac wiring harness. The whole dash needs to be remove down to the evap box to replace it. We had one that did exact same thing.
