In heavy rains water can and does get inside doors, hence why they put plastic barrier inside them, and if it did it could get all over the back side of that open design . Just saying I like the cover on it.

Wow the quality of the wind & fire is great. It's not a cover per say but it's a giant allum heat sink for led , way better than that tiny one on the other brand. Also came with an American flag installed, so got 4 logos with each. And the cover / heat sink is laser etched, nice touch. And eBay seller had them for $29.99 with $5.99 shipping, I bought 2 sets so like $33 each delivered.

I take it, that is what you meant by Plug and Play.

If they do, I might just have to do this too.

EDIT: Never mind! I see they aren't for the R53. Pfft!
I just ordered some from Outmotoring because I had a gift card and wanted something new before MTTS. Anyway, they fit great on my 2005 R53!

Those look really well-constructed. Let us know how they work once you install them.

Ok, first thing to note on install, unplug factory bulb ASAP before it takes your skin off

Next I had trouble getting it to stay up in hole, took a while but found the problem is 2 tabs , one on each side of the hole to be the issue, a quick trimming them off with a razor knife and then they snap in securely. The tabs look like bumps |_____^_____| , sorry for the crude attempt but you'll see them easily.

I then found the logo's can be reversed so if your MINI says INIM you'll know but it was nice with the American flag it came with so you can have a L & R . It also can be rotated 360' which is nice. I set mine so when the doors are open to the 2nd stop ( normal used for entry exit ) the MINI is lined up with the front of the car, not with the door angle.

VERY pleased with these, I bought 2 sets and as i said for $33 shipped the quality looks 10 fold better than the MINI only all plastic looking brand and for the same approx price.

Only down side is that you can change the logo's so easily it's another thing to customize and change as you want.

I liked them as well. I know that they are a little difficult to swap the lens out, but the fact that you can do it is pretty cool.

I like mine and get comments on them all the time.

not on the wind fire I got, even came with a little screw driver, just pry out and pop in new. Takes less than a minute including time to open door and pop assy down.

Hey guys, I got my lights from outmotoring and the first days they were great. I had them on the car since Wednesday and today is the first day I drove it since then. I got out and this happened. Anyone know how to fix it or what caused it?

ok what brand is it ? My wind fire look great still, and what problem are you referring ? The fact one is upside down ? I'd say the logo shifted somehow or the fact they look purple now ? That would be a failing LED that shifted color.

Yeah, they have shifted and are upside down and sideways. The colors look fine, I think it might just be the picture that makes it look bad.

Mine were a tight fit and getting them back out was a little tough, but doable. So for me the swap would only take a min. However others may have a harder time.

if you trim those bumps on the sides it goes right in, atleast on mine.

I'm sure it will, but the tight fit is a good thing in my opinion. I have figured out how to slide them to get them out and no longer have an issue.

I pulled my Passenger Puddle Light out just to see how it would all work once I ordered these...well, my Puddle Light connector came out and now I'll need needle nose pliers to re-attach it!! Anybody willing to post a video on install? I do not have any extra wire to pull out, in other words the wire inside the door has no give and I'm not able to pull it from inside the door and re-attach the connector without using needle nose pliers.

My pass side was quite short. I was able to pull hard enough to get the connector to "sit" on the edge of the hole and push the led assy onto it.

Thanks...I'll try that as soon as I have the opportunity.

2014 compatibility?

I have a new 2014 (F56) Hardtop and just ordered a set of the ghost (door courtesy) lights online, but the connector on each light is too narrow for the connector in the door. Can anyone who's posted here with a successful installation confirm that your door connector has a 2-pin female connector (which would match the light connector)??

Many web sites where I found the lights said they were compatible back to 2007 models. The seller from whom I bought had the 2014 year listed as compatible, but the F56 appears to have changed to a 4-pin female connector on the door (even though there are only 2 wires feeding into the connector).

Hi guys I am new to the forms, but I made a video of the unboxing and installation of the Mini led projectors door lights.
They do fit a F56 S with minimal cutting of the door panel.

I agree there are a lot of these on eBay and other after market companies.

But I did not want to void my warranty. I wanted the JCW flag

I like the JCW logo too but I'm with the MINI logo actually.
You could change the part before going to the MINI shop the your warranty will be OK.
I have all the designs and I'm changing it when I get bored.
With the MINI shop price it would be impossible!

Has anyone got more than a year with these on a daily driver before the filament logo burns or fade out?

Why? Did that happen to you? Old thread but I'm interested in getting these. For $30 it seems like a great mod.
