So the coolant light in my g/fs mini will come on and go off randomly. Also, after driving and the vehicle being warm, the coolant res in the engine bay will be empty. as soon as the car cools down, it is like it back filled from the engine, and will be full. Or as i slowly open the cap when it is hot/warm, the coolant will come back into the tank.

There are no leaks or anything visible, no smoke, NOTHING, and I dont think any air in the system. I changed the thermo housing in Feb, and this all started about a month after that.

any ideas?

 

Did you bleed it after changing the thermostat? Sounds like you have an air-bubble....

 

i did....numerous times...she was just driving to work and had to pull over to let it cool down then continued her drive to work. she said there are no smells or leaks or anything. i am going to go get it from her after i am off work, make sure its either full or coolant or not, and just do a 100% complete coolant change.
