lol. $56? that's ridiculous. Just buy the GoPro suction cup mount or their gooseneck mount.

Everything from MM seems to be way overpriced...Like ra2fanatic said, it's a better deal to get a suction cup mount and mount it anywhere on your front bumper. Plus if you want different angles you can stick it on the window, on your roof, etc.

It keeps knocking over cones

How sturdy is is mounted to the front bumper...I don't want to end up running it over..

Overpriced, yeah probably, but I got it after watching someone's GoPro suction mount decide to come loose while on a drive. The camera survived but the case and mount didn't and it took a while to find it. The mount is well made and gives an interesting perspective since it's positioned low on the front or rear bumper. It screws into the tow hook mount so hitting cones shouldn't be an issue. The location also helps in picking up the engine audio.

I'm making a mount today for the tow hook. I'll post pics once it's done.

I've got the Cravenspeed tow hook mount (along with every other auto mount that GoPro offers) and I can say the cost is worth it for me. Solid mount, great vantage point and stores easily in my glove box.

Track/camera mount. Installing Ohlins as we speak. Hope to get on the track soon. When on the road, my Lic place goes there. I can change between Lic plate and tow how in a minute or two.

Could you mount it a slight bit higher? Won't give you the same angle of course but at least you could dodge the cones...

Instead of buying the tow hook mount you could use the suction cup on your front bumper too

That's what I ended up doing. right below the mirror. I'm nervous about the front bumper and it popping off. where are y'all putting it on the front?

I placed mine on my bumper with no issues for a full 20min session and it didn't come off. I don't think you'll have that issue...

There's no doubt that you won't have to worry about it with a tow hook mount. I have the CravenSpeed and it's simple and solid. The camera doesn't tighten down as firmly as the plastic GoPro mounts for the simple reason that the mount is made of metal and doesn't "squeeze" tight. But it never moved in all the times I've used it.

I trust the suction cup on a clean, flat surface. I dumped mine two weeks ago - my own doing since I didn't clean up the side window. Wifi backpack, housing and suction cup mount were all toast, but the camera lived. Sadly, it won't recognize my new Wifi backpack, but it does work manually. A lot of good that will do when it's outside of the car.

The suction cup is pretty good for what it is. Just make sure the surface is clean and to really tighten everything down.

A short video from the tow hook mount, but shooting to the side.

Video

Depends on how much video you want to record?

I have Dash Cams in my car front and rear HD. Checkout www.blackvue.com and www.blackboxmycar.com They work well. Download via built in Wifi to iTouch or other device in seconds. Nice App. Simple and even works in parking mode. Nice video no hassle. Card determines how much video of course.

Got the dual unit, one behind the mirror and one in the rear. No cones knocked over!

+1 vote for the Cravenspeed Tow Hook mount. I work in a shop with dozens of CNC mills and swiss machines as well as a few different 3D Printers. I event designed one myself and just decided to pay the people who made it first for a quality product and not feel bad about it.

You could always mount the camera higher. I make sure to mount my "cone cams" above cone height.
