Lucky Catch During Oil Change! (Morristown Mini)

Brought in my Clubman S for an early oil change to Morristown Mini. They Charge $69 for the service so when i don't have time to DIY it is pretty reasonable. Today it paid off. During their inspection they found 2 major things.

1. Oil Leak! Oil Volume Solenoid was leaking from a failed seal. Replaced with " Updated Repair Kit"

2. Water Pump Pulley. Water pump wheel was cracking and separating. It was replaced.

Bonus: Oiled my hood releases (previous bad experience on my 2009 makes me paranoid) and brake fluid was replaced (CBD).

All under warranty. Both solid catches by the service department. Just paid for the oil change + tax. Plus since i was waiting once they found the other problems they dropped me off back home and picked me up when the repair was done.

My car is a new to me 2011 Clubman S w/ 26.5k miles. The one "bad" thing is they reset my oil counter, but my maintenance plan expire in July or August anyway (3yr/36k), so no major loss.

You are lucky, local mini dealer here wants $120 for an oil change. I did bring it in recently for a CEL. Sure enough, my mini had both 1 & 2 from your list. Fortunately, am still under warranty. When I asked what it would have cost out of pocket, SA commented: 'Oh about $2k, it adds up fast'. Hmmm

Good for you and glad you're getting that kind of service. I am not as lucky and had to find the leaking solenoid on my own based on information on this site. I have the issue and am scheduled for a fix. The sad part is that I had the car in for an oil change just days before and the tech or SA should have caught the leak but they did not. Given it's a fairly well-known issue at this point it's pretty sad they did not mention it. Perhaps they were hoping it would run out the warranty and the I'd be on the hook for the $2K? Oh well, I guess I should not be surprised.

My old dealer wanted something stupid for an oil change so i got good doing it myself. But for $70 you are basically paying someone $20 in labor to do the install. Perfect.

Seems like buying a low mileage Mini CPO and getting regular maintenance at the Dealership is the best way to go!

$70 is not bad, considering the parts are ~$30 (5 quarts at $5/per + $6 for the filter).

Morristown MINI must have come down back to earth with their oil change pricing, as the last time I had checked with them was when I first got my MINI ~3 years ago. At that time they wanted $140 for the oil change. That was hilariously outrageous.
