R56 ATF flush in Holland (Europe)
ATF flush in Holland (Europe)
Last Saturday I brought my Mini One (2009) to have an ATF power flush. It was quite exciting , because although the guy who performed the flush had a lot of experience, he had never flushed a Mini before (mostly Volvo's). Anyway, he loves a challenge and soon began to look for the heat exchanger. Then he connected an adapter with tubes that fitted to the heat exchanger. After he determined the flow direction, the tubes were attached to the flush machine. The flush could commence. The old ATF oil was not very dirty, he said, but it was clearly a lot blacker and dirtier than the new I will try to post some pictures.
During the flush all the gears had to be shifted. N and R were fine, but in Drive he choked. Then it was panic. Computer was upset. All lights and indicators were flashing and the windshield wipers were on and would not stop. After turning the engine off twice, everything luckily went back to normal. Then I could also put it in D without choking , everything was flushed. What a relief .
The ATF was not nearly dirty enough to give the transmission problems, but it was a preventative flush. I always think that prevention is better than cure . I don't believe in that lifetime crap oil. The power flush guy recommends flushing to avoid problems at 80,000 km My counter at the flush was 90,000 km.
Although my transmission was fine before the flush, it's even better now. It's smooth and gears are shifting effortless and almost unnoticeable. The kick down is also noticeably easier to dose.
Well that was my experience , and so far so good.

I believe BG Oil has the same sort of flush machine en procedure.
