2008 MCS Stereo stopped working

Hi guys,

I got into my car this morning and started her up and the stereo doesn't light up or turn on at all

I have wanted to do a new head unit anyways so now seems like the time to do it. I was wondering if people had any recommendations on installing myself with the aid of the Axxess BMRC-01 Factory Integration Adapter and the In-Dash receiver kit from Crutchfield.

I am looking at the Pioneer DEH-X8600BS head unit as well so if any audiophiles want to chime in please do.

Sounds like you want it to die! : )

Sorry, no advice to give on a new HU, but if you want to revive the factory stereo....it may be as simple as pulling the fuse and plugging it back in. Sometimes when there's a voltage drop on these cars, the stereo goes a bit nuts. Pulling the fuse can "reset" it....happened to me a couple of times. It can also be a warning sign that your battery is starting to go south....FYI.

I appreicate the advice Fastlane I will give it a try and see if the battery needs to be replaced. It wouldn't hurt as I don't know when it was replaced last (I bought the car 6 months ago).

For what it's worth, I traded my '08 in back in May with 80k miles on it....had the original battery. It was probably time for it to be replaced. Seems like most folks get four or five years use out of them before they are toast...so you are probably due if it's the original one.
