newb here with braking and basic maintenance Qs

Hi guys I have a 2009 mini cooper non s, hardtop , it seems my brakes need to be changed soon and was wondering in most cases do I need to change the rotors as well? Or just the pads and sensors ? Car has about 80k miles. And is there any company that sells oem quality parts as a bundle ?

Next questions are
how often do I flush my radiator?
How often do I change my transmission fluid? What brand? And how many qts? My car is stick shift.
Thank you verymuch I appreciate yourtimeandhelp

If your rotors are within spec, and have no unusual wear (gouges) nor warped, they don't need to be changed. If they are marginally within spec I recommend you change them. You might also need the brake wear sensors - depends if they've been activated by wear. But they aren't too expensive and may not even survive being moved from old to new. Suggest you just replace them.

There are several vendors that sell brake packages. This particular forum section is sponsored by one of them. Also, at the top of the front page is a place to click for a Vendor Directory. There have been lots of forum threads on brake replacement.

Brake fluid should be flushed every two years.

Here's a forum link on manual transmission oil. I'm sure there's more:

Here's a forum link on coolant flush. I'm sure there's more:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ant-flush.html

Hope all goes well with your maintenance. I'll soon be facing the same situation

Since you are in Germany, the places that will ship to you is kinda limited...
Sure there are loads of places in Europe...the euro boards can point you in the right direction....
Imo just change the rotors....they are usually about $30-45 each...
Pads..lots of choices...but the oem pad, while dusty seems to have kept you happy...lots of companies make the pads with oem compounds...again...getting them locally might be your best bet....sensors...just get new. The gen1 ones can be moved, but gen2 is more tricky...

How many miles on your old set of pads and rotors?

My R56 OEM pads and rotors used to last ~30K miles, rotors ~40K miles with an 80-20% mix of city-highway driving. For me, autoX (Hawk HP+) pads last 1-2 seasons. Track pads last 3-4 DE weekends (Hawk Blue).

Since changing pads is easy, I swap them between winter/street (StopTech Street), autoX (Hawk HP+), and track pads (Hawk Blue) as needed. It takes longer to jack the car up and remove the wheels then to replace the pads (~2 hours on all 4 corners w/out bleeding the brakes, +30 mins for bleeding), but I usually swap wheels/tires for autoX and DE events anyway.

After first few times of moving the sensors between old/new pads (can be done), I just zip tied them to the strut tower since I have plenty of opportunities to observe pads wear rate throughout the year

Replace rotors as they approach MIN wear thickness (stamped on the hat of the rotor).
Solid (no holes and no slots; e.g.: Centric 125) rotors last the longest and cost the least $$, but don't look as cute.

I don't know if TireRack ships to Germany, but give them a try:

HTH,

P.S.: Don't forget to flush the brake fluid at least once every other year, or before every serious track event!
P.P.S.: Others already commented to coolant and tranny fluid flushing.
