Bumping this for an update. Installed the JCW Stage 1 Intake along with a Pipercross upgraded filter and also fitted the GP2 mirrors I bought from Alpha Motoring.

So I need some input from experts on here. I got to thinking about the PCV system on the car today and noticed that, according to RealOEM, the valve cover that my car came with has been superseded, as a new part number exists from 10/12 onward. Now I know that the N18 motors have a different PCV system built into the valve cover and have thereby eliminated the rear connection that runs to the intake manifold. Can I essentially do this to my N14 motor by installing this new valve cover? I can tell it's a different design purely by looking at the location of the oil cap, but will it contain the N18 PCV system and will it bolt to my N14 head?

May have a different gasket/seal so I wouldn't want to mess with that and you'll end up paying double to replace a N18 cover that doesn't work on your N14. In this case, it's better to be safe than sorry. Just my .02 cents.

Yea I'm not looking to take the valve cover off an N18 motor and swap it over to mine. I'm trying to see if the new valve cover listed when I look up my car contains a different PCV system than the one that is on the car now, and in the process deletes that rear connection that feeds into the manifold.

Hmm.....not sure. I got a new valve cover since mine melted not too long ago and didn't notice much of a difference.

Same here, replaced my N14 valve cover and notice it's been revised. It has a relief valve point towards the intake air box but still has both PCV ports.

Did it move the location of the oil cap?

No, it's 95 percent similar to the original factory cover. The only difference is that the new one has the relief valve a few inches away from the throttle body PCV output. The relief valve opens if the crankcase pressure gets too high, something my original cover didn't have.

So I'm curious then if we can block off that passenger side PCV port without any detriment like we had with the first style

Alright been a few months since I've updated this, but finally have a little bit of progress to report. I went ahead and installed the JCW hard intake pipe that leads from the airbox to the turbo inlet. Really love this mod as I can hear the turbo spooling up and it seems to have made a slight improvement on acceleration. Also ordered and have sitting in the garage a GP2 undertray that will likely go on this weekend. Did some maintenance with new plugs and coil packs as well. Next big maintenance item will be the carbon cleaning. Also will be booking stops with the MTTS 2014 tour coming up in a few weeks time.

Also hoping to take ra2fanatic's recommendation and getting the Wagner intercooler in the next few weeks.

How did you get the JCW hard intake pipe to fit properly? Any pictures? The PCV hoses must have been too short. My 07 MCS has the smaller diameter turbo inlet, not sure what the 08's have.

It took a lot of trial and error and had to use a combination of the stock pipe insert and the JCW pipe insert. The PCV hose fit just like the stock hose. And all 07-09 non-JCWs had smaller turbo inlets.

My initial plan was to use the special hose clamp that DoS had to take up the gap between the pipe and the insert, except DoS is closed for good.
