Clicking steering wheel

My 2011 S has just started making a clicking sound when I move the steering wheel. It makes a single click when the wheel is moved off center to eiither side. It is definitely coming from inside the steering wheel hub. I tried moving the wheel in and out with tilt/telescope, but that makes no difference. I changed the steering wheel to the JCW wheel about two years ago and every thing has been fine until now. Anybody ever have this problem? Any ideas?

Check where the column goes through the firewall behind the pedals. There is a joint there with a single bolt closest to the floor - 13mm. See if it's tight.

Thanks for your reply. I did check that bolt as you suggested; it was tight, but I appreciate your reply. I guess I will have to take the wheel off and see what I can see.

Does the MINI have some sort of slider for a horn contact? Those can get noisy, and can usually be fixed with a bit of dielectric grease.

Well it was a shot in the dark without hearing it. Let us know what you learn!

Did you figure out the clicking problem?
I just swapped in my new JCW wheel and was hearing a click every time I turned left. I then swapped back in the old wheel and the clicking went away.
Anyone know why that would happen?
