DIY question

I was supposed to drive 4 hours tomorrow to have the timing chain tensioner recall done on my 08 MCS. I've started having a big coolant leak problem, heater quit working and I've been getting the temperature warning lights coming on. I looked on the passenger side and can see what looks like a place where the coolant is leaking.

I don't feel safe driving 4 hours with no water pump even though the service guy said it would be ok as long as I keep adding water. They also quoted $600 to $750 to replace the pump.

I was thinking of just replacing it myself as long as it isn't too big of a job. I can order the pump for about $150. Anyone don't the pump replacement themselves?
