R56 Center front armrest and ebrake contact
Center front armrest and ebrake contact
Not sure if the center armrest was a stock item or dealer installed but it seems to sag and hit the e brake lever when the brake is engaged. Its solid and comfortable though so Id like to keep it. It doesn't seem broken or cracked anywhere though. I'm wondering if anyone else has one on a manual and if it contacts the e brake lever when the brake is engaged. Could the support frame be slightly bent or installed incorrectly? Missing some pad or shim behind the box?
My brother builds tactical gear as a hobby and has all sorts of plastics and dense black foam. I was thinking of cutting a 2x2 square of foam and adhering it behind the armrest box to shim it up to clear the e brake handle when its up if there isn't another fix.
I can post a pic later when I get one.

The brake lever will make contact with the arm rest which is an accessory. When you park, keeping the brake pressure on with your foot, set the e-brake. It won't pull quite so far...generally, as there's more pressure on the line.
I have an armrest on my manual six speed and it never touches the center console, doesn't even come close. Your parking brake needs to be adjusted to be tighter at a lower level, if I were to try to hit the center console with the parking brake I would fear that it would break the cable. So no the center console should not coming to contact with the parking brake!
Either your parking brake is out of adjustment or your center counsel is dropping below it's maximum range.

I have a factory armrest and although it comes close the e brake lever doesn't make contact with it. You mentioned yours seems to sag, mine definitely does not do that so there may be something else going on. Good luck.
There are two different styles of arm rest. I've had both. The larger style with metal legs mounted under the seat rails always hit the e brake in our 2008. I also didn't like that thing because it didn't swing up far enough to make it easy to do hand brake turns in the snow lol.
Sounds like the e-brake cable needs adjustment.
There are two types of armrest,
Mine in the standard armrest comes close but you would really have to pull the e brake up for it to touch. Which one do you have ?
FlipTop Center Armrest Console - Black . Also called the Euro armrest . Part # 52160429935

I guess is someone bent the leg of it, it could be touching ?
Then the standard ones. There is a white silver trim version and the carbon black version, its main difference is the trim on the main armrest support.

Silver version.

Black version or carbon black.

Thanks and post up your armrest.
