Reading the Service Due Indicator

Hello All!

I have a 2010 MINI no S. (I am in love btw! This car brings me much joy and I am sure we were meant for each other...)

I have had it 6 months and want to know its health status and when I ought to take it in for regular check up. I don't understand my service indicator. Can someone please enlighten me?

I bought the car used 6 months ago. I am including an image captured from a a how to video on youtube describing how to read the service indicator.

So, I believe I am looking in the correct place. Soon as I turn on MINI an identical indicator comes on as in the attached image. However on mine, the mileage reads 9,000 and six months ago when I bought the car it read 8,000. It is only increasing??!! and by 1,000's?? My understanding is that the mileage indicated in this portion of the reader should be decreasing and gradually so. In other words not in increments of 1,000?

Any help?? Please, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
V

The counter can go up based on how the car is driven. How many miles have you driven since you bought the MINI?

Thanks for your response!

I have driven it 4,000 miles. Technically I have had it 7 months to be exact.

I'm including a photo of my MINI's computer screen right after start up.

Cheers!

You're looking in the right place. You can look at the details to see what's going on. The procedure is in the manual, but you use the menu to find set/info then service info. Then you can scroll through the individual service indicators.

The oil service just goes down, there is a theory it goes down with gas used. I'm pretty sure we've made it go down faster at times than others. The brake service indicators can quite easily count up if you're very gentle on the brakes, they count down fast for us. The inspection indicator goes down strictly by miles. The brake flush is only by time. The start up shows you the one which is fewest miles away, and the one which is soonest. If its your brakes which are next up, it could easily count up.
