Intake Fluttering After Release of WOT :VIDEO:

Today is the first time I hear this noise after 3 years of having DoS Intake. It makes a fluttering "BOV" noise after WOT release. Check out the video and let me know what you think. I didn't find any hoses disconnected that would cause a vacuum leak, and all the tubes are tight and secure.

That noise is not something that the CAI could generate, but it could be a few other things.

I shot you a PM, but my first thought is that your OEM diverter valve has a tear in the yellow membrane seal.

Thanks for your response Clint. I replied back to your PM. Will check out the diverter valve o-ring.

Is it safe to have the wife drive it to work?

The outer o-ring that seals to the turbo is probably fine. I think that the membrane or bellows (the inner yellow rubbery part that flexes and moves with the piston in the center) might have developed a small tear. This tear may be hard to see, so you'll need to look-over that membrane closely.

Yes, it is safe for her to drive, the car just won't achieve maximum available boost pressures if there's a tear in the membrane of the diverter valve.

If that membrane is torn, we sell an upgraded replacement diverter valve here: http://www.defendersofspeed.com/upgr...7-to-2010-mcs/

Good luck and let me know what you find out.

Starting to sound like one of those Japanese turboed 4cyl cars.

Sounds like your DV is in need of service. Clint is on to something here.

My N14 JCW has sounded like that (perhaps a bit quieter) since the day I put in my DoS intake and my boost gauge shows me at ~20psi.

Clint you are the MAN! Thank you so much for helping me troubleshoot! I went to the dealer and picked up a new DV, installed it and everything is gravy for the 10 mile test drive! Back to it's normal operation and the CEL went away as well!

Now I can rest easy not having to worry about the wife driving the track prepped M3.

Thanks again!

The cause was the plastic collar that covers the yellow bellow cracked where the flange covers the below. Luckily it broke in 3 pieces and the parts didn't go into the turbo. The bellow itself was not torn however.
