Philips H13 9008 X-treme Power Headlight Bulbs, Test drive and price invoice
Speaking of Halogen Bulb Replacements,
I tried to say as much as I can below so others will hopefully get a good understanding of what to expect.
I read the other Threads/Post here and decided to do a separate Thread.
This way this one is just for discussing the Philips replacement halogen headlight bulbs.
I did a lot of reading on multiple internet sites about the Philips as well as a lot of others.
What I come to find out was many of the bulbs are a Joke.
They may look cool but don't really offer any real improvement to you seeing better.
Also I found out that there are those bulbs out there that will Melt the Stock Socket/wiring harness.
The Philips is one that is made in Germany and does keep very close to it's specs.
Meaning it is not going to Melt the Stock parts !!!
My conclusion is this.
I went with the Philips because after reading and talking to a tech on the phone.
He actually did try the Philips on his wife's vehicle.
And what I heard from him really impressed me.
It went something like this.
The Philips does provide better lighting but it is not some great big improvement.
But if you get out there where there is No-Street Lights or any Lighting at all where it is actually Dark.
You can tell there is a benefit with the Philips.
It provides better lighting to the sides as well as in front.
But it is as I said not like HID or Xenon lights just because you changed to the Philips bulbs.
But if you actually want a bulb that does have an improvement and will not "Damage" the factory socket or wiring these bulbs are a good choice.
So after talking with him over at (Candlepower Inc.)I decided to give the Philips a try.
Last night the wife and I took the MCS out and drove it for awhile at night.
after we drove it for awhile we felt like we knew what the stock halogen lights were like.
So tonight we waited until dark and off we went again.
My wife said I see a difference and this was when we were still in the subdivision.
We then drove on two lane roads as well as the interstate.
We actually drove on two different interstates.
Now to the point in what we both actually think.
There is better lighting with the Philips.
What percentage I honestly can't say.
It is better but not some great big huge change.
Our opinions are the lighting is (Whiter) not as yellowish looking in front on the road.
It is also a Brighter light on the road but (Not-Drastic) at all.
Is it noticeable, yes !!!
All the above comments are speaking of using the (Low-Beams) only.
Now speaking of the (High Beams).
That is pretty bad *** for sure.
They work "Great" !!!
You can actually LIGHT up the road way-up in front of you.
Very-very nice for sure.
And a very good pattern as well.
We tried them on a two lane country roads and they just lit-up everything in front.
Way-Way in front of the MINI.
Before I forget to mention this.
I went by my Mini Dealership yesterday and had them (Raise) my lights up some.
They seemed to me to be right down in front of the MINI.
Way to close so after they raised them they now are out in front more so.
Not way out there but certainly better than they were.
Let me explain this in this manner.
I don't think they (Low Beams) could be raised up any higher and here is why I say that.
When you go to High-Beams they are right exactly where they belong.
Not up in the trees.
They are way out in front of the car but not to high.
(High Beams)
So that is why I don't think the Low Beams could be raised any higher than they are now.
I know the majority of you know this but maybe there are a few members that don't.
We have a (Single Halogen Bulb) for (Low & High Beams)
So when you raise the low beams you are also raising the high beams.
I think mine are dead on for both.
Bottom-Line:
I would tell another person these Philip Halogen Bulbs do work for sure.
But Do-Not purchase them thinking you are going to see some Great-Big change in the lighting.
That is just honestly not the case IMHO.
Especially if you are driving where there are outside lighting.
Like in the City as an example.
Get out where it is Dark and you will see an improvement in Low Beams.
But when you go to High-Beams it will most surely be obvious.
And you don't have to be concerned over (Burning) any of the Stock components up.
Here are a few pictures I took today for you.
I purchased two sets so I have back-ups if needed immediately.
