Weeping valve cover

I just installed a new valve cover within the last month and now it is weeping from around the front three bolts. I have tried tightening the bolts after a few heat cycles but no luck. I am wondering if my occ could be causing pressure to build up until it finds somewhere to escape. Any input on why this could be happening would be greatly appreciated.

Did you change the gasket?

Yes. Valve cover and gaskets. I took it off last night and checked the condition of the gasket. No flat or damaged parts.

It might be. More likely though, I over tightened the bolts when installing it and caused it warp slightly. The front bolt with the ground wire connected has a smaller gap between the valve cover and head, theyre almost touching, so I'm guessing that's what I did. Guess ill just have to live with a leaking cover because there's no way I'm dropping $300 for another PLASTIC valve cover.

In an attempt at fixing it you could unscrew it and tighten it down properly with the correct torque specs and see if that works.

I did that last night. Took it off set it back on and torqued the bolts to 9-10 lbs.

Maybe a thin coat of Permatex RTV silicone would seal things up, it's cheaper than $300.

Put just a little (most people use way too much), snug up the cover evenly, with your torque wrench, about 1/2 the recommended torque value. Let it cure, then torque to spec.

That is a good idea. That should fix it.

I will try that. Put it on the head surface and set the valve cover on it?

It doesn't matter which side you put it on, whatever is easier.

The oil can should not change the pressure such as to cause a leak. I had to fight with my dealer to fix a slight leak and the claimed it was the oil can. I checked with my supplier (DOS) and them had to quote the law to the dealer to get or fixed.

I didn't think it would cause a pressure change big enough to cause a leak just wanted to be sure. Thanks. Since re-installing the valve cover and torquing and all that I have not noticed any more seepage but I've only driven about five miles so hopefully a more careful installation fixed the leak. If not, I'll do the silicone.
