R56 Jarvik Thermostat Housing
Hi,
Recently, I had a mechanic change the big, ugly thermostat housing on my 09 JCW due to a leak. Although it's no longer leaking, I have an issue where the electric fan is on for a period of 1-3 minutes after car is shut off. This happens only when car is sufficiently warmed up. I never happened in the past and it was very rare to have my fan run at all when I shut the car off. This problem has been ongoing for nearly a month. Any ideas? Is this something I should be worried about?
Thanks!

jrs66, isn't that fan LOUD?. May I offer advice to search this post on NAM: Does your JCW's engine fan run after turning off the car? by cfrea.
I've had to suffer with this issue as well, before it was fixed under warranty.
In his post robbo mcs gives a legendary explanation of how thermostat inaccuracy and consequent mismatch to temperature sensor is (more than) likely to cause this issue. Read it and expect the 'lightbulb moment' that I did.
Robbos explanation, IMO, is one of MAM's 'treasures'...
(ps: I'm presuming, in your case, that your original thermostat/sensor combination isn't the same now that your housing + new thermostat has been replaced with a new unit, but with the temperature sensor left untouched. Or, if they were both renewed they might now be in a state of mismatch, unfortunately.)
