Want to hose down engine compartment for cleaning

Hi there,

I did a search but didn't find any threads on this, but I need advice on whether I need to cover any parts of the engine from getting wet. Not sure there are any parts that would get damaged. Just want to get the dust and spider webs out and keep my car looking clean. Thanks!

Nah no need just make sure to not run the engine till it is dry. I like to take Simple Green and warm up the car for about 5 minutes then spray down with Simple Green and let sit for about 5 min and rinse with water and repeat till clean.

I usually use foil to cover any electrical connectors I can visibly see. Don't spray down a hot engine as the temperature change will crack your block.

I spray Gunk engine degreaser on first and let it loosen up the grease for a few minutes then spray it off gently with water. After drying off the engine I spray CD-2 Engine Detailer. This stuff is amazing and leaves your engine looking amazing. Below is a picture of my engine after detailing this way.

IIRC there's a warning on top of the ECU and/or fuse box to not get it wet. Wouldn't hurt to put a plastic bag over them.
