I have an 07 and it is a great little car - in the past month or so,, when putting the driver window down... WOW< what a squeal??? sounds like the rubber is squealing against the glass??? I called Mini - bring it in,,, ya, two hour drive and out of warranty... was hoping they might have a quick fix,,,LOL.. well, I tried

run over all the glass with a razor (window scraper)

next .... do you clay? If so run over the glass with your old clay

apply Rain X

highly probable your issue is just dirt on the glass

if this does not work the issue might be in the 'channels' and if so and you are not handy around the car ... my suggestion is live with it!

OR: If this does not work PM me and I'll give you some more extreme suggestions

 

I had this on my '07. It was both down and up and worse when hot outside. I thought it was the rubber drying so I tried to clean window, apply dry lube and move it a lot, before cleaning again. It didn't help much. I took it to the dealer and they said they replaced the mechanism. I don't know exactly what parts because I didn't pay for it (in Norway we can claim for 5 years by law).
