Brake Problem?

I recently purchased an 07 hatch back 6spd and prior to my purchase the Mini dealer installed new pads F&R and did a brake flush. Since my purchase I've noticed that when stopped on a slight incline, I will release the brake pedal and the car will not move, then I hear a slight bump and the brakes release and the car will roll. I tried this in my driveway today which has an incline, apply the brakes..release, the car holds then the noise and it rolls, apply the brakes..release, car holds the rolls again, again etc. Suggestions would be most welcome. I've never encountered such a problem.

Umm that would be the hill start assist! It is there to help you get started on a hill without rolling backwards. My 07 has it also but I don't really notice much noise from it. Just one of those great german engineering features!

correct answer assuming you have DSC = this feature only comes with DSC

page 55 of owner's manual (verify index "hill start assist")

Hill Start Assist*
Hill Start Assist is a component of DSC and assists
you in comfortably driving off on inclines. It is
not necessary to use the parking brake for this.
1. Hold the MINI with the brake.
2. Release the brake and immediately drive
off.
Hill Start Assist holds the car in place for approx.
2 seconds after the brake is released.

+1. It's a feature that uses the parking brake to hold the car still on an inclince for 2 seconds. It only works when the car is in gear while you're holding down the clutch. If you leave the car in neutral on a hill and let go of the brake, you will roll back.

Thank you all!! What a relief! The dealership forgot to instruct me on a few things.
