window problem - up is down and down is up!

To make a long story short, my wife's 07S was backed into in a parking lot - hard enough to break the window and trash the door. I found a replacement door from an 09 for a fraction of the cost of repairing. It installed easy as pie and all works perfectly except the window works backwards. The new window motor has 4 wires and the old one only had 2. I was going to swap the entire harness/window motor, but it goes all thru the door and clips in a bunch of inaccessible locations. I doubt anyone has run into this before, but I figured I would ask to see if anyone has. So far the leading solutions are to switch the leads at the motor (if I can find a wiring diagram and figure out which ones to switch) or take the window switch out & mount it "upside down".

my guess, and this is just a guess.

Is that the extra wires are the autoup sensor that was added post 07, i think in 08 but might have been 09.

For a fix you could try resetting your windows.

Window logic reset as outlined from Bentley service manual:
- Close doors and windows.
- Switch ignition on (engine not running)
- Move window approximately halfway down.
- Disconnect power to window (window motor fuse)
- Actuate power window switch several times to clear previous initialization.
- Reconnect window motor power and test to make sure one-touch control is inoperative. If not, repeat previous step.
- With window motor powered, open window fully.
- After reaching lower position, move window without interruption to upper position and hold switch for at least 2 seconds in close position. This completes initialization.
- Check functions such as one-touch control, pinch protection and (if equipped) comfort access.

This other alternative has worked for some too:
- With the car running and You Inside, Lower the window ALL the way without releasing switch for 10 seconds after it is down
- then imediatly raise it ALL the way up without releasing and continue to hold 10 seconds.
- Repeat this two times (2 up, 2 Down cycles) with no pausing more than 2 seconds.

I wondered if there was some sort of "reset". I will try this tonight. Thanks!

Well, that didn't work, but I did solve the problem. The new one has 5 wires, but only 2 of them are big, so I took a gamble and swapped them. Walla! It works perfectly now.
