low boost at 4500 rpm

soI have no idea what is going on I just installed s Ross racing catless dp the car had a stock xhaust the problem didn't start happening till I installed the dp but I have not seen any other issues like this around the forums I just installed the accessport as well I thought the ap might be the problem but it is not also every time I changed the tune the problem goes away for a short period of time. I placed it into stock mode same problem. I've noticed that I don't have a cel four a while but when I get one it is p2785. The ap does not read the code for like 20 miles or so. I have found a way to get rid of the problem if hit the clear codes button on the ap the problem goes away for a short period of time. Do I need an aftermarket exhaust or is there something else I should do.my next step is to remove the dp to see if that fixes it if not I'm out of options.

Your code shows this -P2785 Clutch actuator - temperature too high

So I don't think that is the cause.

so at this point ive traced the problem back to the cel code p2785. im almost 100% sure that is the problem. im wondering if i maybe broke something like an 02 sensor while installing my catless dp. has anyone else had problems with their car after catless downpipe install.

Not sure but I don't think I did. It only looses boost after 4500 rpms and if I reset the codes it goes away for a bit and has full boost

Just to update the stock dp is back on the car. I have not had any problems since something the dp was doing was making the car **** itself. I'm gonna wait to order the rest of the exhaust and then run a stage
3 tune on the car hopefully it will but if not off to the dealership for an engine diagnostic.

I'm confused. The car runs fine on the stock downpipe. However, when you install the catless downpipe, it gives you trouble. So the plan is to install more aftermarket parts, get tuned and then go to a MINI dealership if the same problem arises?

Well obviously the car shouldn't have problems with the dp bc no one else does so I'm thinking the car might be running lean so the tune should fix that. But if that doesn't fix the problem then I can take it in and maybe its overheating a sensor or something.

Dude - this sounds very similar to the problem I'm having in my 07 Turbo.

I reset codes, the thing pulls like a champ. Then, out of nowhere (no codes) I'll try to get on it and I'll have no power at or after 4k. Then, when i come to an idle, I'll get the check engine light. Rich at Idle. I'll start it up and i'll have the no boost after 4k problem untill I reset my codes, then problem repeats itself. Has full power for a little bit, then goes into no power, then check engine light.

Does this sound like what your having?

Its not limp mode. its a loss of boost related to something else. as I said the only codes I have a rich at idle,

Thing is, this rich at idle isn't the problem, its something thats causing a loss of boost (but not fuel) under hard accel, to make the engine think that I have too much fuel in the system.

cannot for the life of me figure this one out. Nor can my techs! Frustrating.

its not internal is it? valves not shut? causing the boost to leak out of the engine, and not hold the compression of the boost? does your boost go up higher, and lower down once u hit 4500 rpms or does it top out boost at 4500 rpm?

It very well could be, my techs are recommending waste gate actuator and some other things so I will try it. The perplexing thing is how it can be fixed every time by resetting engine codes, even if it doesn't show I have any codes to begin with. Makes me think its not a physical malfunction but rather electrical. I don't have a boost gauge to tell when and how much I'm losing. Probably should remedy that problem. Ill keep this thread posted as to my findings. Might be a week or so before I can get it looked at more in depth.

well...if the wastegate is an electronic actuator, it could be. i'm not too familiar with the r56. boost is controlled via computer, just like on an evo. you can't brake boost because the computer adds boost based on your rpms.

Sorry I haven't posted an a while been busy yea same problem that I had I had a bad valve cover but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. The onlything I can think to do is put the dp back on let it throw the code again and take it over to mini. I've just been lazy and the car is running fine right now so I'm not really dealing with it. Any progress on your end?

Hey man, no development here, we replaced the boost control solonoid, mine was about 1/2" shorter than a factory one, and after replacment the car puuuuullled so good, but then sure enough, after sitting at idle for enough time, the problem reoccured.

I've suspected an airleak, i think we are going smoketest my intake system and see if we get any leaks, this would include the valve cover, so its possible i suppose. Really hoping i get this fixed, the car is so much fun to drive when its healthy, bugs the hell out of me that I can't get it fixed.

i threw a new code today that put me into limp mode but i accidently deleted it before logging the number. i havent been able to bring it back yet i think it had something to do with the maf. im gonna clean it and see if that helps. i also have had a problem with random idle surges when im sitting at a light or something ive had this issue for a while im thinking they are connected maybe this will fix the problem. but im gonna have to smoke test the system also if i throw this code again.

I did over oil my intake and it got some residue on my MAF, i cleaned it up with no change in results. When you went into limp mode, did you have any 1/2 check engine symbols or anything? or did it just have no power over 4k again? I, too, have a surging idle, but thought it was a separate issue, thought my fuel pump was going out. but I haven't addressed that concern quite yet.

Hoping for a smoke test soon to see if i have any leaks. will keep in touch.
