Does anyone with an R56 have lighting by the cup holders/front cubby? I noticed the Clubman I had as a loner had these. I thought mine may have burned out, but they told me the tech took off the access panel and found no such lighting. Is this a Clubman only feature? And if so, wouldn't the tech know this?

 

My 2012 Justa has lights down there - tied into the mood lighting - changes colors and everything.
Odd that it wouldn't be there on an S, and that the tech wouldn't know about it.

Depending on the color the roof mood lights will shine down enough onto the cup holders to appear illuminated. I leave my car on blue, but if you go to the BMW orange/amber it will be brighter down there.

 

My 2013 MCS and my wife's 2011 Bayswater has lights in the cubbyhole in front of the cup holders.

Not the ring (which doesn't light up, correct?), but like Zukoda below describes: lights in the cubby which illuminates the cubby & the cup holders. This is odd mine would not have this. I want.

So...late production '12 models have this? My 2/12 MCS does not.

 

The part is cheap enough, I wonder how easy it would be to install? Also wonder if the car has the proper wiring harness for this to work?

 

My 2011 doesn't. The 2013 Coupe does. Looks so nice!

 

Hmmm........now you got me thinking...I'll have to look and see if there are lights in the cubby or its just projecting down onto the cupholders from overhead. I know its lit up down there, but now I'm not entirely sure where the light is coming from.

Haven't checked the build date, but I got it the end of May so it must be a relatively early2012.

 

Checked on the way home - yes, there is a light in the cubby.

 

My 2013 MCS has it. I rather like it. Keep it on red pretty much all the time. When my fiancé has my MCS though it comes back pink!

 

Those of you that have the cubby lights, do you have a sunroof? I don't and am wondering if that may be the reason.

 

Our 2012 has them, April build no sunroof.

No sunroof in our 2013 Coupe and he has the lights.

Coupes don't come with sunroofs... it would be a little teeny one if they did.

 

My 2012 Roadster S has them.

I have a sunroof on my 2012 and it was delivered in late May. It has the moonlighting and the cup holders are included.

 

Not really... Actually thinking about it, my 2012 did NOT have the lighted cubby. It was an Nov 11 build.

Thanks for the pic. I'll have to check the specific build date on mine. I ordered it Oct. 2011 and received it Dec. 2011, so it must be a Nov. 2011 build.
