Checked your fluids yet? Or could be a thermostat.

Had this happen to me recently after a very short spirited driving at 100 mph on the way home. As I slowed down due to a traffic light I got the yellow engine malfunction light. I continued to drive to my destination, but lost turbo boost power so I took it easy. I got to my destination and parked the car for about 20-25 minutes. My hood was also hotter than normal initially. When I turned the car back on the light was still there but disappeared after a mile of driving. Figured the engine cooled down enough to turn off the light. The manual said to bring it in to get checked out anyway so I did and the dealer found the high pressure fuel pump at fault. Luckily, my car is still under warranty at 18k miles on odometer

She just turned 98K but has run great until failure, I would think performance would gradually diminish instead of a sudden death reaction.

An invitation for speculative posts about an unknown problem. This is a great way to make you worry more and more before the dealer visit. Sit tight and wait for the diagnosis
