base cooper ECU tune?

has anyone tuned their 'just-a-cooper' ?

if so, where have u done it? what were the results (power, torque, mileage)? were u satisfied? etc.

i have no engine mods on my '07 cooper except for a muffler delete and a cone air filter. we also have 93 octane here.

thank you muchly!

A couple of us poked around on this one - nothing was very encouraging. No real data, no MINI owners that posted much on it and quite a bit of money for tunes with nothing genuine to hang a MINI key chain on.

THIS thread has some info. Best of luck.

What are the substantial benefits of an ECU remap on a NA Cooper anyway? Slightly better bottom-end and throttle response is all I can think of.

Here's RJ's review of his Way tuned R50:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...this-week.html

I've gone back and forth considering tuning mine. RMW is my only option, and it's tempting but not cheap. At what point should i just give up and buy a quicker factory car?

Just buy a JCW / Cooper S and get it over with! It's all the MINI you'd ever need!

The Justa does not hold a candle to the 'S' / JCW's straight-line speed.

Yeah, but I don't really want an R56, and I can't get my hands on a clean, unmolested R53... I've also got a lot into my Cooper, so it would be nice to squeeze just a LITTLE more out of it. I'm sure I'm not alone in my perspective.

I'm going to test drive a 2000 M5 on the weekend though

Yo Mr. Havok - are you still liking that Borla?

I've a fresh Justa coming in, and prepping it for H Stock.

I liked the one I had on the previous car, but I only had it for less than a year.

Sorry for the thread jack. I am most interested in the ECU tune question, but das ist verboten for me at the moment.

I've got a great tuner, but the drive is too long from where you are I reckon.

Cheers,

Charlie

The Borla is great! Sometimes I wish I had a generally quieter DD, but not often I have spoken to the unmentionable tuner I believe you're referring to. It is quite a long drive, it would mean taking a vacation and spending ~4 days driving. I love the car, but after doing a 5,000KM roadtrip in it last year, I'm weary of spending extended highway stretches in it. The girlfriend agrees.

I'm considering the remote tune option, but the cost of the module and the tune itself add up to close to $1,000. I'm not sure if I want to put that much more into the car... I've put quite a lot of cash into it already, and I'm still eyeballing faster cars. If it was closer to $500 I wouldn't hesitate.

mmm. the road to Lincoln was pretty long too.

No dyno charts for R50 tunes have appeared I notice...

(returning to topic)

Cheers,

Charlie
