Comfort Access Button Not as Responsive as Before

I have a 2008 Clubman that has comfort Access (keyless start), The driver side lock button on the door handle use to be pretty sensitive that I can use my thump to have a little "push" and the car will lock and unlock, but lately I need to use my "thumb nail" to push in further to engage the lock/unlock, is there a way to "replace" or re-service the button? Anyone had the system experience this?

I don't have the package so this is a complete guess, but if you are using comfort and not inserting the keyfob in the dash i think the battery on the keyfob will eventually go dead. It charges when it is in the ignition.

Maybe it is a weak signal from the keyfob?

Comfort access key fobs do not charge from the dash but have a replaceable battery (CR2535?). However, the point might be right, and you might try and replace the battery.

I've never found my CA button on the door handle to be very sensitive, but I don't have to use my thumbnail.

It sounds like the door switch may have a bit of dirt or corrosion in it. The unlock button in my remote for our Ford Focus has the same problem, and I have to push it very firmly, and sometimes repeatedly, to get the doors to unlock. I took the remote apart and found that the microswitch was pretty gunky, so I shot it with an electronics cleaner spray, and that helped some. But getting into a MINI door handle is another matter...

That is totally possible, but I am very afraid to take it apart...

FWIW, I recently changed the battery in my fob because it had lost some of its range, and the battery change restored the range it used to have.

Example:Im standing with my right side against the car... I could only use the button on the door handle to unlock the door with the key in my right pocket (closest), and if it was in my left pocket then i would have to press it several times.

I'm having the same issue with my 2008. I thought about taking the handle apart but feel it wouldn't go back together the way it should. I believe to only way to fix it is to replace the handle. They are around 60 bucks from mini.sewellparts.com
