R56 key less entry
no other takers huh?
I have the 'standard' fob and there is no replaceable battery. It charges when it is in the slot in the dash. The 'convient access' option's fob DOES have a user repl'ble battery.
If you have the standard FOB and like me are the primary driver and use the same fob (of two provided) all the time ... you'd be wise to try and remember to use the other one somewhat routinely. I've got a nearly dead one now. It will not open the doors remotely - but WILL still work for starting the car. I need to remember to use it on a long drive one of these days. Unfortunately I tend to drive less than 50 miles a week! Don't forget that hidden IN your fob is a good old metal key which will look/unlock the doors.....then the fob in the slot is readable on mine allowing the start sequence to work even tho the fob appears to be dead.
In the first weeks I had my 07 one of the fob went dead and I called the dealer about a replacement under warranty. They told me to bring it in and they'd change the battery. I pointed out that the owner's manual said there was no replaceable bat' for a standard FOB. They insisted I come in so I drove an hour plus to the dealer, where after 30 minutes the parts manager asked why I came in since there was nothing to replace except the entire fob which they had to order . . . "and we could do over the phone" ....

07 owner's manual
page 18
Each remote control contains a rechargeable
battery that is automatically recharged when it
is in the ignition lock while the car is being
driven. You should therefore use each remote
control at least twice a year to maintain the
charge status. In vehicles equipped with convenient
access*, the remote control contains a
replaceable battery, page 25.
{checked manual for a 2009 & 11 - says the exact same thing <'cept page number changes>}

i don't understand how you can spend big $$$ (in my case $35K out the door) on any product and not read the OM
i laugh every time i read the "things you didn't know about your countryman" forum, 99% of the "discoveries" are in the OM

ooohhhhh ... so i am not the only one that has read their OM
I know I'm sick, but believe it or not I read the owners manual B4 I leave the dealership with a new car . . . kids had to read the manual and pass a 20 question test b4 their first driving lesson, and demonstrate changing a tire b4 first solo.
