I thought long and hard about buying a Goodwood. I love it. I live in Boston, MA and my MINI has to be a daily driver in inclement weather because I have a convertible for sunny days. All I could think about was that I'd get snow, mud and water inside that gorgeous interior and in five years I'd be kicking myself because it used to be so pristine. On top of that, the black exterior had me worried about swirls and daily maintenance.

I ordered a JCW Coupe this week instead but I will always wonder what might have been with a Goodwood. My dealer still has theirs and can't seem to move it because of the price. I haven't done the final tabulation but I think my Coupe will come out around $42k. Not too terribly far off from the Goodwood so I was within striking distance almost on price.

It is real wood. Burr walnut. Mini only fitted options that were available not from a wish list.

It would be a tough car to use as a daily driver but people do. Ours is not.

I've been tempted by these. I used to own a Rolls-Royce, and I'm a big admirer of the old Radford Minis like the one Peter Sellers (another Rolls-Royce entusiast) built for Elke Summers. It's a perfect blend of sensible and luxury - I don't get why people don't think a car should be nicely appointed unless it's the size of a Manhattan studio apartment and uses more gas than a Sherman tank.

I wouldn't worry and enjoy the floor mats, btw - you'll find they clean easily and they're hard-wearing.

The cleaning is not as much as worry to me. Its the grief I get from the wife for getting the inside of her car dirty.

If you are tempted you should go for it.

Hi Lads, just logging in that we picked one up for my wife a couple of months ago, a very nice car and it does make her smile! Fun and luxury, what's not to like?

There's on on the NAM homepage advertised for $40k. Something tells me they are hard to move. Something about a luxury version of a racy car doesn't quite jive.

Yes, what was I thinking, Jaguar series 2 XJ 12's, Bentley Turbo R's, Bentley Continental GT's ( to name a few) all clearly dismal failures.... ;-)

I'll tell her it must go, an affordable luxury sports auto is an oxymoron. Perhaps a Prius? NOMFL!!

Fantastic to see another Goodwood owner pop up. My wife smiles whenever she drives the Goodwood as well.

I think the hard to move is more about the economy in the US than it is about the car. In other markets the Goodwood sold out quickly.

Damm who ever would have thought people didn't want fast luxury cars.... Clearly a failed formula...

I wouldn't say failed, just a little unusual. Hard to see a burlwood dash and plush carpeting in a Porsche 911.

The wood in the Goodwood is a very English thing all you need to do is look at past English cars to see how many use timber dashes. The English have always had a little luxury with performance.

The Germans are a different story they have never been big on the old world timber dash.

Yup while they are happy they aren't yelling at us....

Our Goodwood is a club run only car. We are taking it out on the Queensland ClubMini run this weekend.

Ours is my wife's daily driver. Snow this morning, chaos on the roads and I'll swear she was smiling as soon as she got in it to drive to work. She was still smiling when she got home...
My old '61 mini was amazing in the white stuff, of course so was our old Austin 1800. Good heritage, I guess....

Have you taken the lambswool matts out for daily use? Ours are still in but its only a club run car so they don't get dirty. We do have servicing matts..

Oh yes, and the rear luggage liner (leather) too. "Senior Management" has advised they may be used on state occasions only ( like the local British Car meets) ;-) Nice MINI rubber mats fitted for our rainy season (sept to august)
We just got a lovely Goodwood keychain from the head of MINI Canada, along with a letter saying our car is one of 30 imported to Canada (and, I understand from the dealer, only 2 remain available). Nice to know distribution numbers.
Bravo Zulu to the moderators!

I didn't see the Goodwood before my 2013 hardtop purchase, or I would have jumped on it. I love the idea of a high end finish out. I thought hard about importing a Cygnet to the US but was too worried about tagging it here in Texas. They can be difficult to deal with on unusual vehicles.

If interested, MINI of Chicago is currently trying to unload their last Goodwood for less than $40K as a year-end special -- that's $12K off the sticker.

Here ya go: http://www.miniofchicago.com/

I'll bet this doesn't last long...

Hey, that would make up for the $10,000 hit I will take on my $32,000 MINI after one month of driving.

Boy, that's what I'm paying for my JCW Coupe. If I'd been able to get that at the start of November, I might have changed my mind. Damn sexy MINI that Goodwood is. Oh well. I pick up my Coupe next weekend. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
