High performance fuel pump.

Not sure there is a thread with all the acronyms. But you can start one if you wish.

However, none of that is worth it to me if the car is unreliable. I'd be looking at getting one with approximately 50-60k miles. Based on some of the stuff in these forums it seems like R56's have ALOT of quirks and generally a crap shoot when you buy one. In 2011 I think all the issues were finally sorted out but 2011 is jsut out of my price range of what I'm looking to spend.

Any thoughts are great, anyone with an r56 that loves it with minimal issues or anyone that has had it so bad that they will never buy another mini?

I would be weary for sure. Personally I would avoid 07-10. In my search for a mini, I just have read too many Timing Chain horror stories to sway me from those years. Even the service manager at my MINI dealer said stay away.

Other issues like temp sensors, water pump, etc etc, that I can deal with but not a $2500 out of warranty repair that can show its face again in less than a year. I know forums are filled of negatives but when it comes to timing chain, there are more than enough stories to keep me away.

I'd go R53 and make sure oil gaskets have been replaced and no crowning strut towers or go '11\+ on R56

Sorry to hear that.

I think that the new Subaru BRZ looks interesting.

Just get one with some warranty left. Don't get me wrong when I say don't get a used one. The Mini is amazing, it would be really hard for me to give mine up. Mine had all the bugs worked out early on and now works like a charm. The problem with buying a used Mini without warranty is that you just don't know if the bugs were worked out or someone just couldn't take it anymore and gave up leaving the next owner a big $$$ surprise. I'm currently a couple of months out of warranty and haven't given it much thought because I know most of my bugs were worked out during the warranty period.

I have just passed 76000 miles on my 2008 non-s and it has been (knock on wood) awesome. No issues. One little rattle in the dash that I'm going to fix, but other than that I'm still all smiles over this car.

07 MCS. Did the usual suspects before the warranty ran out at the dealer around 36k. Been great except for the thermostat since. But, I did get a nice warranty out to 110K via my financing credit union. I've only used it for the thermostat in over a year and 20K miles.

WELL worth the trips to the dealer (who took great care of me) to drive this car everyday. Love it.

My HPFP went out at about 15k. Any used car is somewhat of a gamble, but the big money stuff tends to go at around 100k. My front brakes went at 50k, the rears will to at 65k, but that's expected too. Mine's been pretty sweet.
