Should i get another MINI? Yay or Nay?
Left the MINI world a year ago to get another Jeep. Wife, left and took everything so now I need to save money where possible. Loved my 09 MCS. Should I get a 13MCS? Yay or nay?
If you need to save money, wouldn't it make more sense to not go out and buy a new vehicle? Perhaps a couple year old used MCS would be a more logical choice if you really want to get back in a MINI.
I don't buy used cars and I'd be paying the same amount for the MINI as opposed to the Jeep. The gas money would save me a hundred or so dollars a month. I'm not totally broke, just need to cut back here and there....
You don't buy used cars? I would say seriously consider a loaded certified with a cpo warranty. There are plenty out there with low mileage. If not, then as long as you don't load up a new Mini with too many options a MCS is not too expensive. The Mini v Jeep gas situation will definitely save you a bunch of money, that's for sure. Sounds like you want the Mini, I say get it if you like it from experience and gives you a considerable gas advantage.
I've got enough to survive and will be ok. I separated the bank and accounts and she makes 3X as much as I do since I started my engineering degree. Only 2 semesters left. Plus, she can't touch my GI Bill money or my military disability either...really I just want to save a little here and there and the only reason I got rid of my first MINI was because she hated it. Stupid me....

If you're still dealing with the court, an old Geo Metro could make a much bigger impression than a brand new Cooper S. Or rather, an impression that's more in your favor.
If saving money is a high priority, consider the Justa with very few options. The cost will be noticeably less than a nicely turned-out S, and the fuel economy a bit better.
If you want to look at appliances (get you from A to B and back without much excitement) there are a whole crop of cars now that do that for (relatively) not much money and get very good economy. Several of the Koreans (Kia and Hyundai) do very well there--and their quality is light-years better than what it was a decade or two ago.
If you want the fun factor, and are willing to live with reliability that is (in general) below average, the S is a very good choice.

+1
Pleanty of clean r-53's around . The money you will save in oil costs alone will be a help
Buy yourself a new MINI if that will make you happy. It's your money - it's your life - If you can afford it get it. Get exactly what you want. I don't buy used either. It doesn't make sense with a MINI to buy a 1 or 2 year old MINI when you could buy a new one for a couple thousand more, get exactly what you want, and know how it's been driven & maintained from day-1. Good luck!
I am strictly a cash and carry. No cash, no carry.
Since there haven't been many changes from the 2012 to 2013, I'd look for a leftover 2012 and cut a deal.
I drop on the side of preferring used most of the time, so far in 41K this one has cost me exactly $372 in unscheduled costs. Not too bad. I would prob spring for the extended coverage if you can fold it into your buy price, Slave to Felines is generally correct about the reliability question. You want a boring rock, go buy a Toyota or Kia that never breaks. You wanna tell that cheating ***** to go pound sand, get another MINI. Mine did the same, committed adultery then took the furniture and most of the cash, so I took her beloved truck (Pathfinder) and traded it on my 08 MCS. Been smillin ever since. Go have some fun, its very therapeutic, I can testify.
While A GEO METRO is in no way a Mini... I can verify there is a certain freedom you get from driving it.. I have 91 Metro that i purchased two weeks after my JCW.. I have since put about 7000 miles on the Metro and only 3000 almost on the Mini. I can take the metro anywhere and do not care where i park, dont worry about rock chips.. They are super easy to work on.. Parts are cheap... however they really kinda suck in rain and they would really benefit from some Xenon headlamps... Other than that my base Metro gets 36 mpg in town 40 mpg @ 75mph on highway.. So Metros are fun if you get over the fact they are pretty darn slow...
